NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of the Borough of Conshohocken will consider the adoption of the following ordinance at its meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM, in Borough Hall, located at 400 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
In accordance with the requirements of the Borough Code, the following is a summary of the proposed ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF CONSHOHOCKEN, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 16 PARKS AND RECREATION OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF CONSHOHOCKEN BY AMENDING THE CHAPTER’S REGULATION OF THE BOROUGH’S PARK, PLAYGROUND, AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND AREAS; CLARIFYING THE ROLE OF THE BOROUGH’S RECREATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT; AMENDING THE CHAPTER’S PROVISIONS REGARDING A PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION; REPEALING PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND CONTAINING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The ordinance amends the park and recreation provisions of the Borough’s Code of Ordinances to update the provisions to reflect the Borough’s current park and recreation system and administration. The ordinance clarifies the manner in which the Borough’s park and recreation system is and will be managed by a Recreation Services Department, identifies the park and recreation areas of the Borough, contains rules and regulations applicable to all park and recreation areas, including with respect to alcohol and tobacco, addresses visitation hours, allows for the establishment of additional rules and regulations via resolution of Borough Council, and contains penalty provisions. The ordinance creates a Park and Recreation Commission, provides for the composition and responsibilities of the Commission, and the role of Borough staff with respect to the Commission. The ordinance contains specific regulations applicable to Mary H. Wood Park, including rules regarding use of the Park and penalties for violation thereof, as well as addressing use of funds from the Mary H. Wood Fund. The ordinance contains specific regulations applicable to A.A. Garthwaite Field, including rules regarding use of the Field and penalties for violation thereof. The ordinance repeals prior inconsistent ordinances and parts of ordinances, provides a savings clause, and sets an effective date.
